Races! We know you’ve worked hard
to get here and don’t want you to miss a step now. Please read this carefully and share it with your team.

Volunteers:
We need volunteers! Hey if you can recruit a friend or
family member to volunteer as a course marshal you can earn race credit towards
a future event. And the volunteer
will receive event SWAG, food and beverage. Please email angel@bigblueadventure.com if you
can help! We have a few camping
sites available for volunteers on Friday night.
7 hour
race Quagga Mussel Inspection
This year at many California reservoirs, lakes, and rivers you will be
required to have your boats and kayaks inspected for Quagga Mussels. This is the case at Lake Del
Valle. There is a Quagga Mussel
inspection area and you are required to have your kayak inspected. The cost is $3. IMPORTANT: Make sure your boat, paddles, PFD, etc, are clean and dry or
you may not pass inspection. Plan

USARA LICENSE:
USARA licenses are required for participation in the Red Tail. You will need to present your USARA
license or purchase a USARA license at team
check in. Cost is $8 for 1 day membership, $35 for 1 year membership –
CASH OR CHECK ONLY.

REMINDER for the 7 hour race:
P.F.D. US Coast Guard approved Life Jacket is mandatory and is your
responsibility
The Red Tail is usually the hottest
event of the season and SF’s East Bay can reach upwards to the high 80’s during
this time of year. Please come prepared with plenty of water, sunscreen, and
clothing that will provide protection from the sun.
And don’t forget to stick around after the race to celebrate your
adventure with all of the post race festivities. You won’t want to miss the raffle with prizes from Merrell,
Salomon, National Geographic, Tecnu and more!
