Off-Road Triathlon

Incline Village, NV

August 28, 2010

8:00 AM Start

Previously the location of the XTERRA USA Championship race, this is one of the all time classic XTERRA courses. Racers start with a swim in famous Lake Tahoe, one of the purest and deepest lakes in North America. The bike section test racers’ climbing and fitness levels. The bike starts up tunnel creek, a somewhat sandy gradual climb. Racers pop out from tunnel creek onto the area’s famous Flume Trail, which skirts the mountain side overlooking Lake Tahoe. Riders continue on past Marlette Lake and down a rocky and fast Tahoe Rim Trail. The views are breathtaking, but every view is earned. Both the Short and Long Course complete the 22 mile course with approximately 4500 feet of climbing. After the biking section racers continue onto a trail running course that is relatively flat and fast, but challenges runners with log and creek crossings.

Course Distances:
Full Course: 2X 750 meter laps with a 50 meter beach run, 22 mile bike, 6 mile run
Short Course: 750 meter lap, 22 mile bike, 3 mile run

Just to give an idea of the race length last year’s results were as follows:
The first place overall male, female results for the long course were 2:47:36 and 3:25:28, respectively. The first place overall male, female results for the short course were 2:34:31 and 3:07:13, respectively.

This race is hosted by the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe hotel in Incline village, make sure you make your reservation early.  Go to the venue tab to find the discount code.
