Mountain Bike Clinic: June 16 with Tahoe Mountain Guides Join the Tahoe Mountain Guides for a Mini Skills Clinic when you pick up your race packet Friday, TBD from 5-7 p.m. at the Tahoe City Nordic Center. Bring your bike to work on cornering, descending, ascending, and obstacles. This is a free, drop-in clinic open to riders of all abilities.

 We're Tahoe Mountain Guides and we offer customized mountain bike tours throughout Lake Tahoe. Tahoe Mountain Guides holds extensive licensing, permits and insurance to conduct tours in the majestic Tahoe National Forest. TMG will ensure you have a breathtaking ride - from a mellow afternoon outing to trails that will test your skill. On Saturday June 16th at Aplenglow Sports there will be a Salomon Tech Rep in attendance during Packet Pickup from 2- 6pm (for the Burton Creek Trail Run).  Come and try on Salomon's new XR Crossmax trail running shoe.  The XR Crossmax was the winner of the Best Debut in the Spring 2011 Runners World.  You will also be able to enter to win some sweet Salomon Swag!  Women's Only Donner Lake Triathlon Clinic: June 24th

Back by popular demand, the Tahoe LUNA Chix will host a “Women’s Only Donner Lake Triathlon Clinic” Sunday, June 24 starting at 9 a.m. at West End Beach on Donner Lake in Truckee. This free clinic will focus on mass and group swim starts, transitions, nutrition on the bike, getting through the run and most importantly, mental toughness. Participants should bring their swim, bike, and running gear. Participants in this clinic will receive a 10% discount on registration to any Big Blue Adventure race including the Donner Lake Triathlon on July 15, 2012 and the Lake Tahoe Triathlon on Aug. 25, 2012.

The Tahoe LUNA Chix is a women's road cycling and mountain biking team sponsored by LUNA Bar whose mission is to empower women through outdoor activity while raising money for the Breast Cancer Fund.  Swimming Clinic with Jamie Patrick, June 22nd 3-4PM

Jamie Patrick is an ultra swimmer with some amazing goals.  He will set the record for the longest non wetsuit swim in history by swimming 240 miles in August down the Sacramento River in California.  In August of 2010 he became the first to complete a non stop double crossing of Lake Tahoe -44 miles in just over 25 hours.  So Jamie knows Lake Tahoe well.  Learn more about Jamie at his Athlete Bio.

 

The first part of the clinic will be on land.  He will discuss various swimming techniques, and tricks.  The second part of the clinic (optional) will be in the water, so bring your swimming gear.  He will help work with you on such skills as: line of site, breathing techniques, and drafting.  The clinic is FREE and will be at the start location of the XTERRA Tahoe City Swim the following day -- see course map here.

Jamie Whitmore is no stranger to a tough challenge. You don't become 2007 XTERRA Triathlon USA Champion, 2004 XTERRA Triathlon World Champion & 2003/04 XTERRA Triathlon European champion without a good fight.  Jamie was stricken with cancer in 2007, had two softball-sized tumors removed from her lower back, then became pregnant & gave birth to two beautiful twin boys, Christian and Ryder!
