The Del Valle Adventure Race uses the lake, its various inlets, and rolling hills to create a diverse and challenging course. Though not well known as a mountain bike location, Del Valle is plush with miles of single track that wind up and down the area’s oak covered hills. Racers will find themselves traveling in and around these trails during the trekking/running sections as they navigate around the parks 4,000 plus acres. Strategy will come into play as there are many ways to navigate oneself around the lake. In last year’s race for instance, some teams choose to swim across a portion of the lake while others rode around; the course is designed to encourage ingenuity.  

 

Racers can either participate in the 2-4 hr sprint race or the 8hr race. The sprint race is a great course for those looking for a quicker/faster challenge or newbies who would like to try out the sport. Prior to the sprint race start there will be a race clinic that is included in the entry fee. The race clinic will help explain the sport of adventure racing, provided tips, and answer any questions people might have.  

 

Last year’s winner of the long course was John Ryan, racing as a solo male of Team Feed the Machine. He finished the race is 6hrs and 25 minutes.
