Big Blue Adventure Point Series Information & Overall Big Blue Adventure Championship
We want to reward those that consistently challenge themselves at our events by offering three differen't Big Blue Adventure Point Series. Click on the following for more informaiton on each point series: Trail Run Series, Adventure Race Series, and Triathlon Series. For each point series, overall winners will recieve great prizes and will be announced at the end of their respective season.
If you are a multisport athlete and think you have what it takes, challenge yourself and go for the Overall Big Blue Adventure Championship! Each year - at the last race on Oct. 1st - we will announce a male and female winner to be the Overall Big Blue Adventure Champion. The winner will recieve an award and great prizes.
For each winner of the various series and Overall Big Blue Adventure Championship, we will announce the winners on our Website, Newsletter and on our Facebook Fan Page.

The 2012 Trail Run Series consists of the following 2 categories:
- Long Series: Includes all races with distances 10K and above
- Burton Creek Trail Run 10K
- Burton Creek Trail Run 1/2 Marathon (double points)
- Burton Creek Trail Run Marathon (triple points)
- Run to Squaw 7.9 miles
- Run to the Beach 10K
- Northstar Mountain Run 10.2K
- Big Blue Adventure 10K
- Emerald Bay Trail Run 7.5 miles
- Truckee Running Festival, 10K
- Truckee Running Festival, 1/2 Marathon (double points)
- Truckee River Trail Run/Octoberfest Trail Run 7.9 miles
- Sprint Series:
- Burton Creek Trail Run 5K
- Run to Squaw 7.9 miles (double points)
- Run to the Beach 5K
- Northstar Mountain Run (double points)
- Big Blue Adventure 5K
- Emerald Bay Trail Run 7.5 miles (double points)
- Truckee Running Festivale, 5K
- Truckee River Trail Run/Octoberfest Trail Run 7.9 miles (double points)
Participation: All participants who have indicated via email that they are interested are automatically included in the Trail Run Series.
Points:For each event, points will be given to the first 5 male and first 5 female overall and in each age group (18 and under, 19-29, 30-39 etc, up until 70 and above). Race age is determined by age on race day. Points are given as follows:
- 1st = 5 points
- 2nd = 4 points
- 3rd = 3 points
- 4th = 2 points
- 5th = 1 points
Because points are given to both the first 5 overall and by age group, some participants will get double points. If you are first overall and thus first in your age group, you'll recieve 10 points.
Awards:At the end of the series - Oct. 6th 2012 - custom awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place male & female series participants. Winning is based on the total amount of points one accumulates at the end of the season from their top three races. Accumulate the most points, and you'll win the series. Total there can be up to 12 winners. Three male and three female winners in the Long Series, and three male and three female winners in the Sprint Series.
Rules:You must race in a minimum of three races. If you race in more than three races, your top three scores will be taken (e.g. if you compete in 10 races, we will only include your top three scores and drop the other seven). Note that your age group will be determined based on your age at the time you participate in the event.
The Series Awards Ceremony will be held at the last race of the season, Truckee River Trail Run/Octoberfest Trail Run on Oct. 6th 2012. If winners cannot make it to the cermony awards will be sent to them, but we strongly encourage particiaption at the cermony. We will also announce the series winners in our Monthly Newsletter, on the website and on our Facebook Fan Page.

- Olympic Series: Must compete in the Olympic/International Distance Category
- XTERRA Tahoe City
- Donner Lake Triathlon

- Sprint Series: Must compete in the Sprint Distance Category

There are five categories for the Big Blue Adventure Racing Series. Each category awards some pretty sweet Swag, so check it out and race your way to becoming a Adventuer. Series Winners will be announced and awards given at the last race of the season- Tahoe Big Blue Adventure Race on Sept. 15th 2012.
1. Overall Champion will be awarded to the top scoring 3 or 4 person coed team.
- Race in a minimum of two, 6+ hour events including the Tahoe Big Blue Adventure Race.
- Race in the 36 HR Race on July 30-31st.
- Earn the most points to become the Big Blue Adventure Champion.
2. Big Blue Adventure’s Adventure Racing 6+ Hour Championship will be awarded to the top scoring 3 or 4 person coed team.
- Race in a minimum of two 6+ hour races including the Tahoe Big Blue Adventure Race.
- Earn the most points to become the 6 + Hour Big Blue Adventure’s Adventure Racing Champion.
3. Big Blue Adventure’s Adventure Racing Sprint Championship will be award to the top COED, All-Male and All-Female teams of two:
- Race in a minimum of two SPRINT races including the Tahoe Big Blue.
- Earn the most points to become the Sprint Big Blue Adventure’s Adventure Racing Champion.
4. Big Blue Adventure’s Adventure Racing Masters Championship will be award to the top COED teams of 3 or 4 for Long Course Races and any top teams of 2 for Sprint Races:
LONG COURSE MASTERS
- Each team member must be 45 years or older on or before 12/31/2012.
- Race in a minimum of two 6+ hour races including the Tahoe Big Blue Adventure Race..
- Earn the most points to become the 6 + Masters Hour Big Blue Adventure’s Adventure Racing Champion.
SPRINT MASTERS
- Each team member must be 45 years or older on or before 12/31/2012.
- Race in a minimum of two SPRINT races including the Tahoe Big Blue.
- Earn the most points to become the Sprint Masters Big Blue Adventure’s Adventure Racing Sprint Champion.
5. Big Blue Adventure’s Adventure Racing SOLO OVERALL Championship will be award to the top Solo Male and Solo Female racer for Sprint Races.
- Race in a minimum of two SPRINT races including the Tahoe Big Blue.
- Earn the most points to become the Sprint Solo Big Blue Adventure's Racing Champion.
Note: Tahoe Big Blue has a higher point value than the other Big Blue Adventure 6-12 hour races and SPRINT Races.

Adventure Race Series Rules:
Important:
For a Championship Division and Category to be awarded, a minimum of 5 teams must participate in each race in the category and division. For example; the 2 person male championship will be awarded if 5 or more 2 person male teams compete in each race.
Team Roster/Make Up:
Two Person: Up to 4 people may compete throughout the season.
Three Person: Up to 5 people may compete throughout the season.
Four Person: Up to 6 people may compete throughout the season.
For the Overall Championship Teams may race as a 3 person team in one race and a 4 person team in another race. Maximum team members for the season is 6.
Coed Team Make Up:
Both genders are to be represented on each team in each race.
If a team earns points toward a championship, then at a later race exceeds their team roster, they will no longer be eligible for the series championship and will forfeit their points.
Prizes:
Prizes will include Race Credit, Salmon Shoes, Ski Passes, and much more.

We want to award the racers who have the ability to compete well in all Big Blue Adventure events. The male and female who is crowned the Big Blue Adventure Champion must compete in at least one race in the following event types and earn the most overall points. Racers can compete in any category of the race (e.g. sprint, olympic, 5K, etc). The idea is to compete in a variety of races, not necessarly the longest.
